Unemployment Assistance Initiative: Pro-Bono Support
Lawyers for Civil Rights
During the COVID-19 crisis the need for financial resources is growing, with over 22 million workers seeking unemployment assistance in the last few weeks. Although state and federal emergency legislation was promulgated to expand access to unemployment benefits, countless workers still need help completing the fairly complex online unemployment application. Lawyers for Civil Rights is spearheading a pro bono initiative to connect affected workers with volunteers who can help complete the unemployment application. Volunteers include our allies from the Boston Bar Association’s Public Interest Leadership Program, and our law firm partners. In just one hour, our pro bono partners can help a family secure the resources they need to keep a roof over their head and to put food on the table.
